Job Title: School Nurse

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Phoenix Elementary School District #1. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive health care services to students, staff, and volunteers, while promoting a safe and healthy learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and provide care for students and staff in the event of illness or injury, following established nursing procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medication to students, monitor for side effects, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Review students' immunization records, identify and document problems, and refer for follow-up as necessary.
  • Conduct basic health screenings, identify and document problems, and refer for further evaluation as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date cumulative health records, prepare annual reports for the state, and monitor the school environment for safety.
  • Provide consultation and education to students, staff, and community on health issues, injuries, and current health topics.
  • Develop and implement specialized care programs for students with health care needs, and organize community health supports at the building level.
  • Oversee health safety plans and emergency care processes, and provide educational resources on growth and development, dental hygiene, and first aid safety.

Requirements:

  • RN required, BSN preferred.
  • 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, parents, and community groups.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, deal with problems involving several concrete variables, and perform reading, writing, and speaking at an intermediate level.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical inside conditions, with regular exposure to chemicals and contagious diseases.
  • Light to moderate physical demand, with regular lifting of very light to light items by hand and occasional lifting of average items with mechanical assistance.

License/Certification: RN required, Registered Nurse licensed by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
