Job Title: Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher to join our team at the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and care to our young students.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Teacher will work under the supervision of the ECE Leader and/or Assistant Program Manager to facilitate the learning process and supervision of children aged two weeks to five years. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with the Teacher(s) and Teacher Aide(s) to ensure a well-managed and purposeful program responsive to all participants' needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates with the Teacher(s) and Teacher Aide(s) in all phases of the ECE Center classroom to ensure a well-managed purposeful program responsive to all participants' needs.
  • Implements federal, state, and local health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assumes the Teacher's responsibilities in their absence from the classroom.
  • Supervises children along with the Teacher(s) and Teacher Aide(s).
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the classroom and arranges the physical environment to make the center safe, healthy, interesting, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Reports suspected abuse/neglect/maltreatment and other social service related incidents to the appropriate ECE staff.
  • Pursues basic Pima or Maricopa language skills diligently and continues to expand from words and numbers to practical phrases.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled staff meetings and ongoing training designed for ECE Teaching Staff.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education, or an Associate's degree (or higher) in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education including a minimum of 18 credit hours in Early Childhood or Child Development from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with children aged two weeks to five years.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to applicants with both the AA degree in Early Childhood Education and experience working with children aged two weeks to five years.
