Senior Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Gray & Son Inc. as a key member of our Business Development department. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, preparing accurate estimates, and collaborating with our Project Management and Operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Business Development: Identify and develop relationships with strategic targets to generate new business opportunities, staying abreast of market conditions, competition, and government initiatives.
- Estimate Preparation: Coordinate with assistant estimators to prepare quantity takeoffs, utilize estimating software, and assign labor, equipment, material, subcontractor costs, and production to formulate accurate cost estimates.
- Proposal Follow Up: Engage clients in discussions to answer questions and gain feedback regarding scope and pricing, securing a commitment from the client to perform the proposed work based on the original estimate and contract proposal.
- Contract Administration/Project Handoff: Finalize contracts, affect smooth handoffs to Project Management and Operations, and maintain connections with projects during construction to ensure work is performed in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or Engineering preferred.
- 10 to 15 years of public and private estimating experience in the heavy civil/road construction field.
- Mid-Atlantic, multi-state estimating experience preferred.
- Solid experience with Estimating software (prefer Heavybid) and blueprint reading.
- Proven track record of establishing profitable relationships with decision makers at companies and organizations.
- 1 to 3 years' experience training/supervising Assistant Estimators/Take-off functions.
- Solid math and science skills.
- Negotiation skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines while delivering excellent quality and profitable estimates.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work effectively individually and with teams.
- Detail-oriented.
- Strong Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
- Microsoft Dynamics CMR skills are a plus.
