Job Summary

The Village of Orland Park's Athletic Division of our Recreation and Parks department is seeking a responsible and enthusiastic Part-Time Maintenance employee to perform outdoor maintenance of all parks and grounds owned by the village.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance work on village-owned properties, including turf areas, fences, stands, lights, dugouts, and related appurtenances.
  • Restore and maintain turf areas, install, mow, and treat sod, and lay out athletic fields and play areas.
  • Operate gasoline and electric-powered equipment, diagnose equipment and mechanical malfunctions, and work with cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships, work within time constraints, follow verbal and written instructions, and maintain composure in emergency situations.
  • Perform physical tasks, including walking, overhead work, bending, stooping, and kneeling, and lift, carry, and push up to 50 and 90 pounds, respectively.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of related maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Illinois Driver's License (Non-CDL Class 'C' preferred).
  • Ability to acquire an Illinois Pesticide Operators license.
Working Conditions:

The employee will work both inside and outside, depending on the assignment, and may be exposed to inclement weather, heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.

Hours and Scheduling:

Hours consist of either of the two (2) schedules below:

  • Monday, Wednesday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and Friday 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Thursday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and Friday 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

These are general hours and start and end times and days assigned may fluctuate based on department needs.
