Crossing Guard

Windsor Unified School District is seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to fill the role of Yard Duty Supervisor. This position involves supervising students on school grounds, maintaining order and safety, and ensuring a positive school climate.

• Supervise students on school grounds, including during arrival and dismissal, lunchtime, and recess.
• Maintain order and ensure safe practices in accordance with school rules and regulations.
• Assist administration and custodial staff in identifying and addressing unsafe conditions and faulty equipment.
• Enrich recreational activities on the playground for all students.
• Observe and report student behavior to certificated staff.
• Supervise students during lunchtime meal periods, maintaining order and ensuring compliance with school rules and safety regulations.
• Escort students between areas of the school as assigned by the site administrator or certificated staff.
• Supervise students in maintaining clean and uncluttered conditions in the cafeteria or lunch area.
• Assist certificated staff in supervising, escorting, and accounting for students, and facilitating inter-staff communications in the event of a disaster or emergency.

• Ability to relate positively to students, staff, and the public.
• Understanding and ability to carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to stand, walk, and travel about the school grounds in the course of supervising students.
• Ability to see, identify, and monitor students and their activity, both nearby and at a distance.
• Ability to learn and follow the practices, rules, and regulations of the District and the school.
• Maintenance of confidentiality of school-related information.
• Maintenance of cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Consistent modeling of appropriate behavior related to a positive school climate.
• Possession of or ability to obtain CPR Certification and Basic First Aid.

• Ability to communicate in Spanish.
• Conflict management training.

Fingerprint and tuberculosis clearances are required for this position.
