Role Summary:
The Superintendent will be pivotal in managing daily operations and ensuring that project timelines are met. This role involves coordinating and supervising all on-site personnel, subcontractors, materials, and activities essential for the successful completion of projects of varying complexity. You will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and Project Engineer to deliver high-quality results on schedule and within budget while adhering to safety regulations and exceeding client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and enforce safety protocols in compliance with OSHA and relevant state regulations.
- Conduct job-specific training for staff on-site, including scaffolding and aerial lift training.
- Develop and manage safety documentation.
- Facilitate both internal and external safety inspections.
- Lead Toolbox talks and provide safety training for new hires.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards on-site.
- Verify field conditions and communicate changes to relevant parties.
- Establish and uphold standards of workmanship and best practices.
- Inspect materials to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
- Address non-conformance reports from subcontractors and ensure adherence to project standards.
- Manage punch-list items effectively.
- Direct the construction activities of subcontractors and laborers.
- Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with schedules and budgets.
- Identify and procure resources necessary for self-performed activities.
- Assign daily tasks to field personnel.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Oversee hiring and layoff of field labor as needed.
- Communicate construction progress conflicts to the project team for resolution.
- Initiate and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), Submittals, and Change Orders (COs).
- Coordinate on-site logistics for rigging, equipment, and material deliveries.
- Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely project completion.
- Participate in meetings with the Construction Manager and clients.
- Prepare and submit daily reports.
- Collect and manage payroll documentation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a superintendent or foreman.
- At least 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Possession of SST62 certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management abilities.
