About the Position:
The Port of Portland is seeking an experienced Hydrographic Surveyor II to perform hydrographic surveys along the Columbia River between Astoria and Portland for the Dredge 'Oregon' operation in accordance with the United States Army Corps of Engineers contract. As a key member of our survey department, you will be responsible for managing survey consultants/Port technicians through all phases of Port hydrographic and land survey projects.
Job Summary:
- Perform/direct hydrographic surveys along the Columbia River between Astoria and Portland for the Dredge 'Oregon' operation in accordance with the United States Army Corps of Engineers contract.
- Manage survey consultants/Port technicians through all phases of Port hydrographic and land survey projects.
- Prepare project scope of work, appropriate methods/equipment, and cost estimates for the survey aspect of engineering and land development projects.
- Provide leadership and professional/technical support, expertise, and guidance to Port staff, Port operating areas, and outside consultants/agencies for development of Port projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in surveying/geomatics with specific focus on land and hydrographic surveying or related field; or extended experience and associate degree (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years' experience working as a land and hydrographic surveyor; with successful experience as a project lead/manager of hydrographic and land surveying projects; demonstrated leadership, judgment, and technical/professional competence related to surveying, design, boundary determination, land divisions, hydrographic and construction.
- Oregon Professional Land Surveyor license (required); ACSM-THSOA Certified Hydrographer (preferred); valid Oregon or Washington driver's license (required).
