This is a Medical Laboratory Scientist I position in a clinical laboratory setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to department testing, clinical relevance, and complex problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform testing in an accurate and timely manner according to established policies and performance standards.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and control inventory and assist in providing financial data for the department.
- Participate in contributions to additional department/System projects.
- Act as a department resource by participating in providing educational information to internal and external customers.
- May process and/or prepare patient samples as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology, or a related field.
- MLS/MT or categorical certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB) is preferred.
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy is required in departments where applicable.
