About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Analyst to join our Energy and Resources business unit at Stantec. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing GIS services to external and internal clients, with a focus on supporting energy, mining, and oil and gas projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • GIS Project Management: Work with project teams to determine the optimal approach for using geospatial technologies to meet client needs, accurately estimate the corresponding level of effort, and see implementation through to completion.
  • GIS Lead: Serve as primary GIS lead on projects of all sizes, manage project scope, schedule, and budget, and coordinate multiple supporting GIS resources.
  • Cartographic Output: Produce concise, clear, and compelling cartographic output, both dynamic and static, with a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • GIS Solutions Development: Develop, configure, and manage dynamic and impactful GIS solutions leveraging the GIS platform, associated applications, and cross-platform integrations.
  • Mentorship and Quality Assurance: Balance a high level of creativity with adherence to established Stantec GIS standards and best practices, and actively engage with the immediate GIS team and greater GIS community.
Qualifications
  • Strong GIS Foundation: A solid understanding of foundational GIS principles and skills, including coordinate system projections and transformations, vector and raster data management, and analysis techniques.
  • Cartographic Skills: Strong cartographic skills for both desktop and web-based maps, including GIS-CAD data interoperability and integration.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, including associated applications, and intermediate to advanced automation skills using Arcade, Python, Model Builder, and ArcGIS API.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong written, oral, and virtual communication skills for all levels of technical understanding, and ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's or an advanced degree in GIS, geology, geomatics, geotechnical engineering, environmental science, or a related field with demonstrated GIS training or coursework.
  • Experience: Minimum of seven years demonstrated professional work experience as a GIS Professional, with prior experience within a consulting environment and specific experience providing GIS services within the energy sector considered a strength.
