Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Administrator to join our team at the Department of Public Utilities/City of Orangeburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering Geographic Information System (GIS) and related databases, providing technical support, and managing GIS servers and software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, servers, and applications
  • Provide technical support for custom applications and packaged software products
  • Organize and evaluate geospatial data
  • Process documentation associated with department/division operations
  • Communicate with stakeholders, including DPU Division Directors, supervisor, employees, clients, and the public
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Information Engineering, cartography, planning, engineering, or a related field
  • Three years of experience in administering, creating, and maintaining GIS databases, servers, and applications
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License
  • Valid Geographic Information Systems Professional Certification (GISP) or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • GIS training with strong knowledge of SQL databases
  • Considerable experience with ESRI software and a fundamental understanding of object-oriented programming
