Transportation Operations Specialist

Position Overview:
A Logistics Coordinator is sought to facilitate communication with drivers to assist in resolving issues while en route. This role involves managing incoming service requests, directing drivers, and addressing service-related challenges. The coordinator will engage with clients, including customer service representatives, sales teams, and operational staff. Proficiency in GFL proprietary software is essential for entering ticket details and monitoring productivity.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate service to meet customer demands for service modifications, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • Assign calls to routes based on the designated driver and their current location.
  • Conduct end-of-day check-ins with drivers to verify complete and accurate documentation.
  • Gather, review, and distribute route sheets for accurate data entry at the end of the day.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with other departments, clarifying roles and responsibilities to resolve service challenges.
  • May undertake additional tasks as delegated by the Operations Manager.
  • Engage with customers, customer service teams, sales personnel, and Operations staff, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
  • Collaborate with routing specialists to enhance route efficiency.
  • Handle incoming inquiries from customers via calls and emails.
  • Identify and resolve potential delivery and pickup issues proactively to prevent service disruptions.
  • Assist in determining daily driver staffing levels to achieve optimal responsiveness and productivity.
  • Document and relay information from drivers to the relevant departments.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance personnel.
  • Exhibit professional communication skills through email, phone, and two-way devices.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education or diploma is advantageous.
  • 1-2 years of experience in transportation, dispatch, or customer service roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Industry knowledge is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in software applications and accurate word processing, including adequate typing speed.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including occasional weekends.
  • Experience with TRUX is beneficial, but a willingness to learn the TRUX system is essential, along with advanced computer skills.
  • Additional training in transportation, logistics, or related fields; customer service experience in a call center environment is preferred.
