Job Summary:

EVONA is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to lead the electrical design of spacecraft for missions based out of our US office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing customer needs and customers' payloads requirements, as well as creating custom electronics to support these missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of current generation avionics used for LEO spacecraft.
  • Work with electrical engineers at our partner company to develop next generation avionics for LEO and GEO spacecraft.
  • Participate in parts selection, participate in radiation test design (TID and Heavy Ion) at US and European facilities of avionics board-level tests as well as create test boards for IC-level tests.
  • Lead the electrical design of spacecraft for missions based out of our US office.
  • Lead the effort to create custom electronics as needed to support these missions.
  • Select and set up Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for functional tests and environmental tests.
  • Design and prototype harnesses.
  • Interface with contract manufacturers for PCB fabrication, board stuffing, harness builds, and box-level builds.
  • Work closely with Integration and Test (I&T) for the build of qualified and prototype-flight spacecraft, and interface with contract manufacturers for higher quantity builds of spacecraft.

Requirements:

  • Schematic and layout experience in Altium and/or KiCAD.
  • Scripting experience (preferably Python) is strongly desired – the ability to tweak and extend existing test scripts would be great.
  • FPGA programming (VHDL / Verilog)
