The Pump Mechanic is a skilled professional responsible for the disassembly, mechanical inspection, troubleshooting, and re-assembly of various types of pumps and blowers. This position requires a strong understanding of rotating machinery and the ability to work with complex electrical and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Disassemble, troubleshoot, and reassemble pumps and blowers to identify and repair defects.
- Perform detailed mechanical and visual component inspections to determine root cause of failure.
- Recommend disposition on company job cards and customer specifications.
- Lead and mentor less experienced mechanics throughout each phase of the repair process.
- Balance rotating assemblies to industry standards.
- Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on refurbished pumps.
- Perform criteria acceptance testing on close-coupled pump motors and submersible pump motors.
- High School Diploma or Certificate from a trade/technical school, combined with 5+ years of experience in the rotating machinery industry.
- Basic 3-phase electrical knowledge and familiarity with standard electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to accurately and effectively use typical mechanical measuring equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret pump-specific technical manuals and industry standards.
- Ability to solve complex problems with clear analytical thought.
This position requires a flexible work schedule, including extended hours, nights, and weekends, when required. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is also necessary.
