Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine phlebotomy procedures with precision and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate expertise in distinguishing sample types and drawing requirements for lab testing.
  • Navigate laboratory computer systems with minimal to no errors.
  • Perform pediatric and adult phlebotomy with ease.
  • Obtain finger stick collections with confidence.
  • Verify patient demographics accurately with two patient identifiers.
  • Adhere to safety and scientifically accepted infection control practices and standards.
  • Follow handwashing protocols and practice aseptic techniques.
  • Utilize protective barriers and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of role in emergency disaster situations.
  • Function as an effective team member, working cooperatively alongside physicians, nurses, and other ancillary staff.
  • Display effective communication skills.
  • Maintain a pace of over 4-6 patients per hour.
  • Travel to all other draw stations and perform all tasks.
  • Troubleshoot problems within LIS and partner with LIS team to resolve outstanding issues.
Requirements:
  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Proven solid communication skills.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven solid computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Proven ability to work Saturdays and travel to other draw stations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated Pediatrics Phlebotomy experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and more. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
