Job Overview

As a Cyber Security Specialist at SIM&S, Inc., you will play a critical role in developing and implementing cyber control solutions to protect our organization's information systems assets. Your expertise will be essential in conducting field surveys, installing, and operational support to ensure the safety and security of our systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Computer Security Incident Response activities, coordinating with other government agencies to record and report incidents.
  • Monitor and analyze Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to identify security issues for remediation.
  • Recognize potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information.
  • Evaluate firewall change requests and assess organizational risk.
  • Communicate alerts to agencies regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications, and operating systems.
  • Assist with implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls.
  • Ensure the integrity and protection of networks, systems, and applications by technical enforcement of organizational security policies, through monitoring of vulnerability scanning devices.
  • Perform periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system, and external Web integrity scans to determine compliance.
  • Prepare incident reports of analysis methodology and results.
  • Serve as a technical team or task leader.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of data security administration principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.
  • Familiarity with domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures.
  • Understanding of firewall theory and configuration.
  • Understanding of DHS/DoD policies and procedures, including FIPS 199, FIPS 200, NIST 800-53, DHS 4300A SSH, and other applicable policies.
  • IAT Level III (DoD 8570) Certification.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • 10-15 years of experience.

Clearance Level: SECRET
