POSITION OVERVIEW:

The primary objective of this role is to assist the Category Director and Category Merchants by facilitating all merchandising processes across various banners and channels, including the development of assortments, execution of merchandising strategies, and implementation of merchandising plans for Family Dollar stores.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct analysis and research to support the formulation of the Category Strategy.
  • Collaborate on the definition of assortments and selection of products within the designated Category.
  • Provide insights and research to aid in assortment definition.
  • Engage in product development initiatives for the assigned Category.
  • Assess vendor performance and recommend supply sources to the Category Merchant and Director.
  • Prepare analyses and reports to facilitate vendor meetings.
  • Assist in identifying new supply sources, preparing for international buying trips, vendor selection, and negotiating costs.
  • Contribute to financial and assortment planning activities for the respective Category.
  • Oversee the creation and approval of all plan-o-guides, display guides, flow guides, and planners for the assigned Category.
  • Develop marketing copy and text to support Category products.
  • Manage vendor relationships within the respective Category.
  • Provide input on product selection for promotional programs and ensure appropriate representation in promotions.
  • Contribute to Weekly Business Reviews and Monthly P&L for the respective Category, and consult on potential merchandising improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in Merchandise/Buying.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Preferred experience in retail or discount merchandising.
  • Creative mindset.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships and work effectively within a team.
