Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the City of Portland as an Electrical Engineer in the Water Bureau's Engineering Services Group. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to design, plan, and implement electrical systems for water service infrastructure installations.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and reviewing electrical and instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for various projects, including pump stations, wells, buildings, and tanks. They will also investigate existing conditions/installations for updating electrical and I&C infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and reviewing electrical and I&C systems for water service infrastructure installations
  • Investigating existing conditions/installations for updating electrical and I&C infrastructure
  • Reviewing engineering consultant designs to ensure compliance with local and state codes and Water Bureau Standards
  • Collaborating with the Operations Group to ensure electrical and I&C designs meet expected functionality, capacity, and connectivity requirements
  • Advising on cost-effective solutions for alternative design options and reviewing estimates for design projects
  • Collaborating with the Construction Group to review electrical and I&C submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide input on site during installation

Requirements

  • Possess a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Possess a license to practice as a registered Professional Electrical Engineer or be qualified to obtain Oregon Professional Electrical Engineer license within six months after appointment
  • At least 4 years (full-time equivalent) electrical design experience or experience at a public agency preferred

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
