Position: Mortgage Operations Associate – Tax & Insurance Management

Role Overview:

The Mortgage Operations Associate is tasked with various responsibilities related to the management of existing mortgage accounts. This includes the administration of insurance premiums, property tax payments, escrow analysis, and loan satisfaction processing.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring that appropriate insurance coverage (homeowner and PMI) is maintained, timely remittance of escrow insurance premiums, and accuracy in reviewing reports and statements. Addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to taxes and insurance from both employees and clients.
  • Monitoring and processing real estate tax payments, following up on delinquent tax reports with customers and local tax authorities until resolution.
  • Establishing new escrow accounts as needed, managing voluntary and mandatory escrow setups, and providing necessary disclosures to customers in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Conducting weekly reviews of loans for current insurance coverage, reaching out to customers for missing documentation, and arranging property insurance when necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate loan account records, particularly regarding PMI, and reviewing loans for both automatic and borrower-requested cancellations.
  • Assisting in the escrow analysis for bank and mortgage loans.
  • Providing payoff quotes to customers and attorneys, gathering necessary data for payoff statements.
  • Handling incoming customer service inquiries, addressing requests related to amortization schedules, loan information, escrow analysis, and general servicing questions.
  • Supporting document requests for audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Serving as a backup for various servicing functions, including investor reporting and payment processing.
  • Participating in annual regulatory training and relevant educational opportunities.
  • Adhering to all applicable Federal and State banking regulations.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by management.

    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience is essential.
    • Experience in accounting and reconciliation is preferred.
    • Familiarity with lending processes is advantageous.
    • Previous experience in escrow accounting is a plus.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy is crucial.
    • Effective organizational skills, multitasking ability, and deadline management are required.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Self-motivated with a positive work ethic, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
    • Customer service orientation with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to adapt to new technologies as needed.
