Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter I Environmental to join our team at Argo Group. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting and analyzing new business and renewal submissions, ensuring our marketing initiatives are achieved, and developing and maintaining a submission pipeline to meet overall production and business mix objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with appointed brokers to achieve marketing initiatives and provide consistent communication of our products and services.
  • Assist regional manager and product leaders in further developing existing broker relations and establishing new relationships to attract business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, or a related field of study.
  • At least one year of underwriting or equivalent experience and education, preferably in environmental or casualty excess and surplus lines.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent organization skills, strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently with guidance and procedures provided.
  • Strong customer service and teamwork skills, professional attitude, and ability to interact and communicate with various levels of the organization.
