Job Summary

AXA XL is seeking a highly experienced Senior Product Line Leader - Environmental to drive the growth and development of our Environmental segment. As a key member of our Americas Middle Market Product team, you will play a critical role in setting the product line strategy and delivering the right capabilities to capitalize on growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the product line strategy for the Environmental segment, in close partnership with the Environmental leadership team.
  • Drive the overall product strategy for the Environmental Underwriting unit, ensuring the competitiveness of our product and staying abreast of market trends and changes.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Environmental market and consistently scan the market to ensure our product set retains an industry-leading position.
  • Partner closely with counterparts across AXA XL to understand our full suite of products, appetite, and opportunities to introduce cross-sell options and innovative, integrated products.
  • Provide product line depth and understanding to liaise effectively with partners in other cross-functional units, including Risk Control, Claims, Legal, Regulatory & Compliance, and Reinsurance.
  • Help develop talent within the Product Line team and across the Underwriting unit through thoughtful mentoring and coaching interactions.
  • Drive the priorities for the Product Line team and work closely with Environmental Underwriting leadership to influence the broader strategy of the Environmental Underwriting unit.
  • Drive the portfolio management of the Environmental book of business, driving the audit process across the Underwriting book, understanding loss considerations, and helping the organization achieve financial and operational goals.
  • Serve as a key leadership member of the Americas Middle Market Product team and help shape and influence strategic plans across the broader Middle Market product portfolio.
  • Represent AXA XL at key industry events and conferences alongside key broker partners, insureds, and potential prospects.
Requirements
  • Extensive Commercial Underwriting and/or technical experience with the vast majority of that time focused on the Environmental lines of business.
  • Prior people management experience.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent; key insurance designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or ARM.
  • Deep experience working externally within the environmental market with established broker relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise of the technical aspects of Environmental and Pollution lines Underwriting with the ability to translate that experience into thorough Technical Underwriting guidelines and training modules.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to obtain cooperation and participation of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to draft coverage form language and intimate knowledge of the product development cycle.
