Position Overview - Awake Overnight Support Specialist

Reports to: Overnight Supervisor

Compensation: Up to $20.00/hr plus a $500 Sign-On Bonus

Key Responsibilities & Opportunities:

As an Overnight Support Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering services to students in alignment with program objectives and each student's Individual Treatment Plan. Building connections with students is essential for fostering understanding, empathy, and facilitating treatment progress. Engaging youth through meaningful and relevant programming is crucial for nurturing a positive program culture and achieving treatment goals.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Ensure 100% supervision of students and maintain their safety throughout the overnight shift.
  • Assist second shift staff in completing bedtime routines.
  • Prepare students for the day during morning routines and hygiene practices to ensure a smooth transition to the first shift.
  • Gather information relevant to students' immediate issues that may impact the overnight experience.
  • Conduct compassionate fifteen-minute bed checks in accordance with policy.
  • Provide crisis support to students exhibiting unsafe behaviors.
Encouraging Student Success:
  • Maintain 100% supervision of students.
  • Celebrate student achievements, reinforce positive behaviors, and support growth through challenges.
  • Engage with students as a compassionate and understanding professional.
  • Obtain TCI certification and apply TCI principles.
  • Utilize an understanding of ARC to create a framework for student success.
  • Manage student crises with empathy and aim for positive outcomes.
Facilitating Residential Routines:
  • Arrive punctually and manage time effectively.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings.
  • Plan and implement meaningful and relevant programming.
  • Internalize daily schedules and demonstrate an understanding of programmatic rituals and routines.
  • Encourage students to take responsibility for their environment and personal growth.
Understanding Risk and Protective Factors:
  • Learn about the impact of trauma, medical, psychological, and other risk factors.
  • Engage in the program's residential treatment model.
  • Seek student-specific information through Individual Treatment Plans, training, and assessments.
  • Practice negotiation, cooperation, and collaboration with students to achieve program goals.
Professional Documentation:
  • Document service delivery and behavior-related incidents promptly, including chore logs and incident reports.
  • Complete Administrator On-Duty Reports and other required documentation.
  • Understand the importance of accurate and timely documentation.
Professional Development:
  • Manage personal stress effectively and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Establish rapport with students while upholding professional standards.
  • Seek supervision, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Align program policies with daily operations and decision-making.

Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree or 60 college credits.
  • OR two years of full-time experience working with children.
  • OR a combination of credits in human services and experience with children totaling two years.
  • OR seven years of parenting experience.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license preferred & must be 21 years or older.
  • Authorized to work in the United States (Required).
  • Satisfactory completion of background and applicable pre-employment checks.
