Role Summary
The Personal Care Assistant is responsible for delivering in-home support to individuals facing challenges with daily living activities. This role includes assisting with personal hygiene, managing medications, and offering companionship. The assistant develops and adheres to a daily care schedule tailored to each client, adjusts care plans as directed by healthcare professionals, and communicates any changes in the client's condition or requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing assistance with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
- Implementing prescribed healthcare plans, which may involve supporting exercise routines and administering medications.
- Ensuring the client's living environment is safe and organized according to their needs.
- Performing light housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Offering emotional support and motivation to help clients accomplish daily tasks.
- Assisting with mobility, including helping clients move in and out of beds, chairs, or wheelchairs.
- Accompanying clients to medical appointments and other necessary outings.
- Monitoring and reporting any changes in health, behavior, or needs.
The ideal candidate will possess patience, empathy, keen observation skills, and a strong commitment to enhancing the client's comfort and well-being.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle may be required when applicable.
