Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Join The Arc of King County in making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

About the Role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a vital member of our Supported Living team, providing one-to-one support to participants in their homes and communities throughout King County. As a DSP, you will be responsible for daily implementation of the service plan, including required documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist participants with community inclusion and social integration.
  • Attend appointments with participants (medical, housing, ISPs).
  • Complete quarterly safety logs.
  • Assist participants in setting and meeting goals and meeting ISP objectives.
  • Assist participants with housing reviews and finding housing.
  • Complete required documentation and daily narratives.
  • Assist participants in managing their finances as directed by their Independent Financial Plan (IFP).
  • Assist participants with home supports (cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc.).
  • Assist participants with personal care tasks as needed.
  • Perform delegated medication administration as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Good communication skills to provide feedback to supervisors and coordinators.
  • Ability to work independently and with the Coordinator Team and Health Advocate Professional.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
  • Experience in using MS Office Suite and database software.
  • Ability to prioritize work and ask for help when needed.
