Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor to join our team at Ochsner Health's Jefferson Place Clinic. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory functions to support patient care, including phlebotomy procedures, specimen processing, and test result analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures to collect blood samples from patients
  • Process and receive specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and storage
  • Accession specimens and distribute them to the appropriate laboratory departments
  • Perform and result specific test procedures, following established protocols and guidelines
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate test result reporting
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; completion of phlebotomy course preferred
  • Current license or trainee license in the state of practice (if applicable)
  • Strong computer skills and data entry experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of venipuncture procedures and laboratory safety protocols
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. The incumbent must be able to sit for prolonged periods, travel between facilities, and work a flexible schedule as needed.
