Job Overview

Hmong College Prep Academy seeks an experienced Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic educational community. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with special needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a flexible and inclusive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of our students. You will develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), provide direct instruction, and collaborate with general education teachers to ensure seamless support for students.

Responsibilities

  • Student Support: Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs, adhering to IEPs and ensuring their academic and personal growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers to adapt lesson plans, assess student progress, and implement accommodations to meet diverse needs.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and respectful classroom environment, promoting social skills, self-discovery, and friendships among students.
  • Data-Driven Instruction: Use data from various sources to inform instruction, adjust teaching strategies, and target areas for improvement.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress, goals, and concerns.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
  • Volunteer Activities: Engage in school-wide volunteer activities, fostering connections with families and the broader community.
  • Accountabilities: Adhere to Minnesota's Teacher Code of Conduct, support school goals, and maintain confidentiality regarding students and the educational setting.

Requirements

  • Certification: Current MN teaching license in Special Education: Emotional Behavioral Disorders Grades K-age 21 (grade 12), or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in urban settings, working with diverse ethnic backgrounds.
  • Skills: Strong classroom presentation, management, and technology skills; knowledge of instructional technologies and research-based teaching strategies.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with LETRS or structured literacy programs; ability to adapt instruction for diverse student populations.

Salary Estimate

We offer a competitive salary range of $ $55,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
