Job Summary

As a Radiologic Technologist I at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality radiology services to our patients. Under the supervision of experienced radiologists and registered nurses, you will be responsible for performing radiologic examinations, positioning patients, and selecting technical factors to achieve optimal imaging results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiologic examinations in various settings, including radiology, emergency department, surgery, and portable bedside service areas.
  • Position patients, provide immobilization devices as needed, and select technical factors to achieve optimal imaging results.
  • Review orders, correlate patient clinical history with exam being performed, and review previous studies when follow-up and progressive studies are requested.
  • Consult with attending radiologists and registered nurses as needed.
  • Follow all National Patient Safety Goals, including receiving and double-identifying patients, ensuring accuracy of information and data entry, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with screening patients for contraindications, preparing sterile fields and contrast agents, and maintaining appropriate and adequate supplies during procedures.
  • Operate and understand all features and performance capabilities of general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems.
  • Post-process and review images as required, prepare images for radiologist interpretation, and transmit images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, report equipment malfunctions, and report accidents and/or unusual incidents as well as unsafe conditions to appropriate administrative personnel.
  • Assume responsibilities for patient care during procedures, provide service-oriented communication with patients, and emphasize a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere.
  • Provide instructions on appropriate safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff, and ensure appropriate safety precautions are followed.
  • Apply appropriate measures (ALARA Principles) for minimizing radiation exposure to patients and self, and record fluoroscopy time used during procedures.
  • Function as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
  • Maintain all materials needed and linen supply on a daily basis, and maintain general order and cleanliness of the room assigned.
  • Rotate and share on-call responsibilities for General Radiology service areas.
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education, and attend departmental meetings and/or in-service presentations as needed or required.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in radiologic technology from an accredited school, or two (2) years of directly related experience.
  • Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification required at hire from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
