About the Director of Engineering role:

We are looking for an individual who can provide leadership support to our engineering department. You will be responsible for providing professional direction and strategic leadership of a comprehensive facilities management organization. This position will include project management (including annual and long-term capital expenditures), procurement and planning, leading the day-to-day maintenance operations of the resort, and budget planning and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide short- and long-term strategic direction for the facility in conjunction with all operational needs of the individual departments.
  • Work closely to select the best third-party vendors for construction challenges, including contract negotiations for those vendors, plus developing a strong relationship with the Reedy Creek Development Board.
  • Direct all hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, counseling, and evaluation of performance and planning the activities of maintenance staff including making spot checks on a daily basis.
  • Ensure proper execution of work order/request system and that items are followed up on when necessary.
  • Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise effectively with the Director of Purchasing.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies and rules to ensure an efficient department.
  • Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools and monitor distribution of items.
  • Ensure that all energy use systems are monitored and that data is reviewed to evaluate consumption.
  • Support the energy conservation program allowing the hotel to meet its annual budget targets.
  • Maintain close working relations with hotel contractors who furnish reliable 24-hour emergency service.
  • Assist with maintenance of all firefighting equipment in first class order and ensure that emergency procedures are understood and practiced by hotel staff.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school education or equivalent experience Trade school in mechanics, refrigeration etc.
  • Experience: Experience preferred by position is from two to five years of employment in the related position with Four Seasons or other organization.
  • Skills and Abilities: Requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-Job or through a series of professional certifications.
  • Requires knowledge of and the ability to operate computer equipment.
  • A sincere willingness to provide service to residents, guests, and peers.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to function well under pressure, set priorities and adjust to changing conditions.
  • High work ethic, with a sense of responsibility for the role filled within our team.
  • A successful candidate will have a flexible schedule, ability to work weekends and holidays. Must be fluent in English and possess legal work authorization in the United States.
