Job Summary

As a key member of our Psychological Services department, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive assessments, consultations, and support to students, parents, and school personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive Assessments: Participate in comprehensive psycho-developmental assessments, including reviewing referral information, coordinating evaluation plans, administering assessment instruments, and communicating test results to parents.
  • Consultative Services: Provide consultative services to parents and school personnel, including identifying problems, developing intervention strategies, and providing observations of children in different environments.
  • Special Education Eligibility: Coordinate the special education eligibility process for new students, including reviewing referral, medical, and background data, and conducting eligibility meetings with appropriate staff.
  • Community Agency Collaboration: Communicate effectively with community agencies, including developing a network of professional contacts, identifying available services, and acting as a liaison for parents and community agencies.
  • Staff Development: Conduct and/or contribute to staff development initiatives, including needs assessment, presentation development, and staff training.
  • Professional Growth: Participate in departmental and/or system staff development activities to enhance professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of a state-approved certification preparation program in school psychology at the specialist degree level or higher, or completion of a master's degree plus 60 graduate semester hours/90 quarter hours of school psychology coursework from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)-approved program.
  • Experience: Completion of a successful year's internship in conjunction with public schools following conferred degree required. Three years of experience as a preschool special education psychologist preferred.
  • Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for a valid certificate in school psychology. National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification preferred.
Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
