About the Role

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at UNC Health Care, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing and interpreting diagnostic ultrasound examinations. This position requires a strong foundation in sonography principles, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including complex ob/gyn scanning and vascular diagnostics
  • Assist radiologists in performing invasive diagnostic techniques, such as needle biopsies and aspirations
  • Evaluate patient contraindications and provide standardization and training to residents
  • Recognize sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow
  • Analyze sonography findings throughout the examination to provide comprehensive data to physicians
Requirements
  • Completion of a 12-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent certificate program
  • RDMS registration with certification in at least one modality specific to the department of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
  • Three years of experience as an Ultrasound Tech
