Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Bay Area Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide clinical nutrition support, care, and information to patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and recommend aggressive nutrition intervention, and provide follow-up for continuity of care
  • Counsel patients and family members in nutrition principles, modifications, and food selection, adapting plans for individual lifestyle and using appropriate written instruction material
  • Communicate appropriate nutritional care data through patient medical records
  • Document using the Nutrition Care process and standardized language
  • Communicate nutrition care plans to appropriate physicians or support staff
  • Assist in maintenance/revision of diet manuals, menus, policy and procedure manuals, standards of care, educational materials, and Quality Performance/Improvement data collection
  • Interpret, evaluate, and use pertinent current research relating to nutrition based on current professional standards and through Continuing Education programs pertinent to areas of practice
  • Complete nutrition therapy to achieve desired patient goals and document evaluations, daily progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries within diet manual guidelines and policy & procedure protocols
  • Participate in nutrition education, orientation, and in-service programs for staff, patients, students, and community
  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and Diabetes Self-Management training for individuals and groups
  • Participate and deliver long-term care and other nutritional services consulting agreements
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition or Dietetics
  • Dietetic internship or approved masters program with qualifying work experience
  • 1 year experience in clinical or acute setting
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Oregon Food Handler, Food Manager Certification, or ServSafe Certification
