Position Type: PRN role within Rehabilitation Services.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant is responsible for executing treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist, adhering to all relevant state and federal regulations. This role involves collaboration with hospital personnel to ensure optimal physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being for patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Preferred experience in acute care settings.

WORKING HOURS: Non-guaranteed; Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm; occasional weekend coverage may be requested.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Implement treatment plans by selecting appropriate tasks, exercises, or modalities to assist individuals in developing or regaining skills necessary for achieving their goals and maximizing functional independence. Document progress accurately and adjust treatment as needed.
  2. Collaborate with other rehabilitation professionals to ensure treatment is integrated and coordinated, allowing patients to benefit from a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach.
  3. Utilize modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, TENS, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, hot and cold packs, and contrast baths to enhance motor and sensory performance for daily functional tasks.
  4. Conduct therapeutic exercises, joint mobilization, developmental progression, activities of daily living (ADL) retraining, perceptual and cognitive retraining, work conditioning, and patient education for joint protection.
  5. Order supplies and equipment necessary for patient care.
  6. Prepare patients with the required equipment for tasks and ensure cleanliness according to infection control protocols.
  7. Complete billing documentation describing services rendered and route it to the appropriate billing department.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
