Job Summary

Rutgers University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Managing Director within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Biorepository and Histopathology Service (BRHS) Shared Resource, which provides critical support to cancer researchers and clinicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and promote the use of services relevant to the BRHS SR's mission, including consent, banking, and distribution of biospecimens, as well as standard and complex tissue analysis, and tumor microarrays.
  • Work with Principal Investigators and Clinicians from project conception to completion, including data analysis and assistance with manuscript and grant application preparation.
  • Manage and account for the work of several staff, while also performing, developing, and instructing wet lab research.
  • Implement and approve all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and review schedules for laboratory assays.
  • Lead the development of new histopathological assays and other molecular techniques relevant to spatial biology, including new state-of-the-art imaging technologies and multiplex imaging at a single-cell resolution.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a Biomedical Science or a related field is required.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively more responsible experience working with Principal Investigators on research projects involving cancer biology, tissue management, cell culture, spatial biology, and drug development.
  • Experience in regulatory affairs, including IACUC, IRB, and IBC protocol development, is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as proficiency in database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research in the field of cancer and cell biology, as evidenced by first authorship in peer-reviewed original research publications, is strongly preferred.

Work Environment

The position is located at Rutgers University - New Brunswick, New Jersey, and requires a full-time commitment with standard hours of 37.50 per week.
