Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor

Northstone, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day manufacturing process and ensure the production/assembly process adheres to policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning: Ensure execution of the production plan to meet unit and service targets by organizing workflow appropriately, scheduling and assigning personnel, and monitoring process steps.
  • Process Improvement: Proactively identify delays in production; ensure necessary labor, materials and other resources are available to meet critical shipment schedules timelines.
  • Safety and Quality: Foster a safety culture where all employees are engaged 100% of the time to achieve zero reportable accidents; support ISO certification and compliance.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Inspire the manufacturing team to embrace lean manufacturing practices, reduce manufacturing waste and drive capacity improvement by implementing changes in working conditions and the use of equipment and tools to improve work flow, efficiency and safety.
  • Communication: Interpret specifications and customer orders, and communicate effectively to team members.
  • Facilities Management: Maintain a clean and efficient work environment by maintaining 5S standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure equipment uptime by implementing and managing a preventive maintenance program; evaluate new equipment and techniques.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records of day-to-day activity including time and materials and occurrences of important issues or activities.
  • Training and Development: Work with Manufacturing Engineer to develop and revise SWIs and observe workers to ensure compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Conduct weekly team meetings to communicate company objectives, policies, updates, and to review key manufacturing progress and actions required to meet targets.
  • Performance Management: Lead manufacturing staff and provide coaching, training and feedback; enable a culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Employee Relations: Communicate matters such as promotions, transfers, attendance, and discipline. Track manufacturing team attendance and conduct performance reviews.
  • Confidentiality: Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Process Simplification: Actively challenge existing processes to drive simplification and improvement and support the organization by leading special projects as requested.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing or related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years manufacturing experience in a lean environment.
  • Leadership Experience: 3+ years manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Understanding of production planning, inventory control and planning, and production methods.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge in the usage of automated production machinery, paint processes, common hand tools, handheld power tools, and portable air tools.
  • Software Skills: Proficient with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • MRP/ERP Systems: Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Leadership and Management: Results oriented and excellent strategic, business planning, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Self-motivated, self-starter capable of remaining flexible to changing work priorities.
  • Leadership Principles: Understanding of leadership principles and management best practice, as well as health & safety best practice and legislation.
  • Analytical Skills: Effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot situations such as labor and material shortages, plant safety, tool and equipment problems, while maintaining productivity.
  • Lean Manufacturing Tools: Strong analytical and critical thinking capability to make sound decisions on suitability and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • ISO Quality Management: Proven skills in the use of LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Statistical Process Control, 5S programs, and Total Preventative Maintenance.
  • Communication Skills: Experience in operating within an ISO Quality Management System.
  • Human Relations: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications and industry codes.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Human relations skills to conduct one-on-one training, resolve conflict, and achieve harmony in a team environment.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively interface and communicate (written and verbal) with all levels of employees, management, and diverse audiences, including suppliers and internal/external customers.
