Histology Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Histology Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination by a Pathologist.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare tissue specimens for processing by describing and measuring them while ensuring proper identification throughout processes.
- Fix, dehydrate, clear, and embed tissue specimens using appropriate techniques.
- Perform microtomy, using a microtome to cut thin sections of tissue from embedded blocks, and mount tissue sections onto slides for staining prep.
- Perform routine and special histological staining procedures, including Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining.
- Execute specialized staining techniques, i.e. immunohistochemistry, enzyme histochemistry, immune flouresence and in situ hybridization.
- Operate automated staining equipment, solutions, and reagents, and troubleshoot any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Assist in the training of new laboratory personnel.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York.
- State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 0-1 years of technical experience, required.
- MOH certification is required.
