Job Summary

As a Histology Laboratory Technician at Tampa General Hospital, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of histology functions and procedures for patient specimens. This position requires a high degree of theoretical knowledge and technical expertise in histology, with a focus on performing all histology functions and procedures, including responding to frozen sections, immunostaining, and special staining by both automated and manual methods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process tissues for microscopic examination
  • Operate instrumentation, prepare reagents, and maintain records according to established policies and procedures
  • Communicate with nursing and physicians regarding patient specimens and results
Qualifications
  • AS degree in Histology or related science required; BS/BA degree in Histology or related science preferred
  • Minimum one year experience in Histology in a hospital laboratory setting
  • Current State of Florida Laboratory Technologist License in Histology specialty
Additional Requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data from Laboratory Information System
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
