Our mission is to facilitate affordable, non-exclusive access for the entire drug discovery community, encompassing academic researchers, small to medium-sized biotech firms, and major pharmaceutical companies. Team Dynamics
The Antibody Discovery Services (ADS) team at Alloy is expanding and is in search of a new senior leadership role for a Vice President of Antibody Research Initiatives. This position is based in Waltham, Massachusetts, where our ADS team seamlessly integrates proprietary in vivo, in vitro, and in silico platforms to collaborate with partners in the discovery and optimization of antibody-based therapeutics. You will lead a dedicated team of 50 professionals in Waltham, supported by a global Alloy team of nearly 100 individuals across various locations. Our ADS team employs state-of-the-art technologies in molecular biology, protein sciences, B-cell cloning, phage and yeast display, novel antibody formats, and analytics to identify and enhance antibody-based therapeutics. You will play a crucial role in overseeing antibody discovery strategies and program execution at the Waltham site, with the aim of collaboratively advancing medicine with our external partners.
Key Responsibilities
As the Vice President of Antibody Research Initiatives, you will be instrumental in shaping and directing strategies for our antibody discovery efforts. This pivotal leadership role involves spearheading the discovery of innovative antibody-based therapeutics, including monoclonal and bispecific antibodies, as well as T-cell receptor mimetic therapeutics. You will oversee numerous therapeutic discovery programs annually, collaborating closely with large pharmaceutical companies, emerging biotech firms, and academic institutions. Your work will directly contribute to the development of medicines that are expected to reach patients in the near future, with the ultimate goal of achieving regulatory approval.
A significant aspect of this role is to provide a comprehensive understanding of drug discovery projects to formulate effective project strategies in partnership with our collaborators. This highly scientific position demands your expertise in antibodies and drug discovery. You will ensure excellence in execution by evaluating scientific strategies, reviewing data in real-time, and making necessary adjustments to guarantee a successful therapeutic discovery campaign. Additionally, you will lead teams to ensure the successful completion of project activities, achieving shared objectives and adhering to strict partner timelines. You will also drive technological innovation to implement and optimize advanced technologies and develop new methodologies while enhancing existing processes to maximize efficiency in therapeutic discovery projects.
Communication and Collaboration
Strong communication skills are vital for this role, as you will engage with a diverse array of stakeholders both internally and externally. This includes providing regular project updates and presentations to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines, as well as addressing any potential issues promptly. You will also manage partner communications throughout the project lifecycle, which encompasses drafting research proposals, updating project statuses, and presenting final deliverables.
This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Antibody Discovery Services, granting you autonomy over various stakeholders, projects, and tasks in a dynamic environment while maintaining the pace of Alloy. You will have direct, daily interactions with our CEO, President of Research, CSO, and other C-level executives.
