With a capacity of 253 beds, this non-profit establishment is responsible for the delivery of approximately 6,000 babies annually and serves as a hub for medical education and research.

Specialized services offered include intensive care for both infants and children, around-the-clock emergency care for pediatric and adult patients, critical care air transport, and high-risk perinatal services.

Over 1,400 dedicated staff members and over 700 physicians deliver exceptional specialty care at Kapi'olani.

The hospital features the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, along with a variety of community programs and services, such as specialized pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center, and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.


Role of the Registered Respiratory Therapist II:
The Respiratory Therapy team collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care for patients experiencing acute or chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.

Our certified respiratory therapists possess expertise in both cardiac and pulmonary care, working closely with patients to enhance lung function through tailored exercises, specialized medications, and the utilization of oxygen therapy equipment.

This proficient team employs evidence-based practices and cutting-edge technologies to elevate the patient experience within our facilities.


Key Responsibilities:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist II, you will provide compassionate and professional respiratory therapy services to patients and their families. Your role will include:

  • Delivering cardiorespiratory and related services.
  • Acting as a technical resource on all aspects of respiratory care.
  • Demonstrating exceptional communication and patient care skills.
  • Collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association are required, along with a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and a valid Hawai'i State Respiratory Therapist License.

Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience in respiratory care or a related field is preferred.
