Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Oversee the daily operations of the veterinary department, including the management of veterinary staff and volunteers.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of animal care and welfare.
  • Animal Care and Welfare
    • Examine, diagnose, and treat animals in our care to maintain or establish their health and prepare them for adoption.
    • Develop and implement animal health protocols and procedures to ensure the best possible outcomes for our animals.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with our veterinary staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with local, state, and national animal welfare organizations.
  • Strategic Planning and Budgeting
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve our organizational goals and objectives.
    • Manage the budget for the veterinary department, including the development and implementation of financial plans and policies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • DVM degree with an active veterinary license in good standing in the State of Minnesota.
    • At least 5 years of experience in shelter medicine or a related field.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of animal care and welfare.
    • Knowledge of shelter medicine practices and protocols, with the ability to develop and implement new procedures as needed.

    • $100,000-$110,000 per year.
  • Benefits Package
    • Health insurance available for employees on the first of the month following 30 days.
