JOB OVERVIEW: This role is part of the Fiscal Unit at the Sampson County Health Department. This unit manages all financial operations within the agency, including budgeting, accounts payable, patient accounts receivable, client eligibility assessments, encounter documentation, internal audits, and various other fiscal responsibilities. The primary function of this position is to interview clients to evaluate financial eligibility and determine appropriate payer sources; establish service fees based on eligibility and collect payments; discuss payment plans in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as generally accepted accounting principles. This position also entails maintaining accounts receivable for client accounts involving third-party insurance or Medicare payers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The ideal candidate should possess skills in reading, basic calculations, filing (both alphabetically and chronologically), effective communication, typing, data entry, organizational skills, confidentiality, and proficiency in Excel and Word. Attention to detail, mental focus, and visual acuity are critical abilities required for this position.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A High School Diploma or GED, along with a minimum of two years of experience in an office assistant or secretarial role; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
