Conduct complex specialized tasks related to the operation of CT scanners and associated equipment, adhering to established radiation safety protocols. Position patients for CT imaging using necessary immobilization and protective gear.Assess CT images for technical accuracy, organize processed images in accordance with protocol, and ensure proper labeling. Complete necessary documentation across all systems, marking for review and transmitting to PACS promptly. Support other healthcare professionals during imaging procedures, including starting IVs, administering oral contrast, and injecting contrast as required. Assist radiologists with fluoroscopic X-ray and interventional CT procedures. Demonstrate adaptability and sound decision-making skills in response to changes as needed. Participate in quality control and maintenance of all equipment within the area. Effectively utilize accessory equipment such as injectors, patient transport devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations. Prepare patients for procedures, providing explanations as necessary. Report any changes in patient condition to medical personnel. Deliver oral and/or written clinical histories to radiologists and other healthcare professionals. Aid in the training of new staff and students during clinical rotations. Adhere to and assist in the implementation of hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Maintain consistent communication with patients, guests, staff, and physicians in a constructive manner. Stay informed about compliance and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to Federal, State, accrediting bodies, and standard practices for patient care. Follow departmental procedures and protocols diligently. Participate in rotating schedules for holidays. Ensure accurate charging of procedures and supplies on a daily basis. Collaborate effectively with peers and other departments, responding calmly and efficiently to various situations. Regularly attend departmental meetings, in-services, and engage in continuing education opportunities. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or managers. May be required to cover extra shifts as necessary to fulfill departmental needs.
