Position Overview
The Evening Admissions Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in assessing and managing the patient intake process, ensuring effective communication and coordination during the admissions and transfer call center operations.
This position acts as the key point of contact between healthcare providers, including physicians and hospitals, facilitating the referral, scheduling, and transfer of patients into our facility.
Clinical expertise and thorough medical communication are essential for ensuring the successful admission and transfer of patients.
Key ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Evaluates patient documentation and applies established criteria to determine eligibility for admission and appropriate patient status upon entry. Engages with admitting physicians and hospital management to address patient safety and regulatory compliance effectively. Resolves challenges related to patient volume and bed availability while liaising with transferring facilities to secure accurate insurance details.
- Collaborates with various departments, including surgery, emergency, nursing units, and external facilities, to ensure timely and appropriate patient placement. Manages the evaluation, processing, tracking, documentation, and coordination of patient transfers.
- Oversees the admission process, prioritizing and assigning beds based on the required level of care and patient categorization. Works closely with physicians to ensure accurate documentation reflecting patient conditions for appropriate diagnosis and care levels.
- Provides data for reports related to the Admissions/Transfer Coordinator review process, aiding in the evaluation of admission accuracy and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintains effective communication with all personnel levels to ensure continuity of care. Alerts management to specific issues involving patients, families, staff, or physicians, and informs the Administrator-on-call of matters requiring administrative attention.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of utilization review, medical terminology, and appropriate care levels, treatment methods, regulations, and healthcare delivery systems. Ensures compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act, Texas Department of Health regulations, and organizational policies.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas
