Job Summary

Community HigherEd is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technology Educator. Candidates must possess a valid Certified Surgical Technologist License and have a minimum of three years of practical scrub experience. An Associate's Degree is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficient computer abilities, are essential for this role. Exceptional Surgical Technology Educators are passionate about teaching and committed to fostering student success.

The Surgical Technology Educator will deliver high-quality instruction in both classroom and laboratory settings, ensuring students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in the surgical technology field. This is a full-time daytime role with a structured schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure student safety at all times.
  • Stay informed on current healthcare trends, including regulations and safety protocols.
  • Conduct skills assessments for students prior to externship placements.
  • Evaluate students' clinical competencies based on established program criteria.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of program objectives and contribute to program evaluations.
  • Assist in the development of curriculum materials.
  • Keep accurate attendance records for students.
  • Create and grade assessments, including tests and quizzes.
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring as needed.
  • Organize field trips and invite guest speakers.
  • Review student/patient charts on a weekly basis.
  • Regularly research and update teaching materials and aids, ensuring consistency with program standards.
  • Prepare lecture content in advance and ensure comprehensive coverage of the curriculum.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom and lab environment.
  • Ensure consistency in teaching lab skills among team members.
