Highway Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Highway Engineer to join our team at Hardesty and Hanover. As a Highway Engineer, you will play a crucial role in preparing and managing tasks associated with highway designs for various project types, from preliminary concepts to final construction plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize 3D design software to prepare roadway, drainage, and Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) designs, calculations, and drawings.
  • Approach tasks with an open mindset and propose innovative solutions to design problems.
  • Prepare engineering reports and assign, track, and review tasks of technicians or designers.
  • Serve as the Engineer-of-Record and be responsible for task management.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, internal design groups, and external entities, including clients, subconsultants, and relevant government agencies.
  • Effectively present proposed design solutions as part of internal project meetings and may attend and contribute to presentations with external parties.
  • Contribute to the development of other team members through mentorship and positive behaviors.
Requirements:
  • Four+ years of experience in highway engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License desired or obtained within six months of hire.
  • Proficiency in Microstation and OpenRoads processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
