Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer II is tasked with ensuring the effective operation of manufacturing processes within our facility. This role involves developing project plans, conducting utilization studies, identifying capacity requirements, and proposing enhancements to optimize efficiency. The engineer will analyze equipment layouts, workflows, assembly techniques, and workforce utilization to maximize productivity. Additionally, the role requires determining necessary parts and tools to meet manufacturing objectives in accordance with product specifications.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of standard practices and procedures within the optics manufacturing domain. Regular collaboration with engineering teams, production support, and proactive communication with clients regarding project progress and issue resolution is essential. This position also involves overseeing the transition of manufacturing processes from engineering and prototype stages to full-scale production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the RPO Product Development Cycle.
  • Collaborate with design engineering and production teams to plan and execute prototype builds.
  • Review technical drawings for appropriate tolerances.
  • Coordinate the implementation of suitable tooling.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of build methods.
  • Develop testing protocols.
  • Evaluate testing outcomes, including optical and environmental performance metrics.
  • Support quotation processes.
  • Address production challenges in Cleanroom Assembly or Electro-Assembly as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in optical assembly techniques.
  • Familiarity with prototype development, including reading technical drawings and creating work instructions.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software, preferably Solidworks, or understanding of optical design modeling tools like Zemax.
  • Experience in customer interaction.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ITAR regulations and compliance in optics and mechanics is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Strong communication skills with team members and management.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for optics or mechanical engineering.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Capability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.

Additional Requirements:

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with arms. Frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, and talking is expected.
