Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriting Associate to join our team at CNA. As an Underwriting Associate, you will play a critical role in evaluating and managing risk for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough underwriting analysis to determine the acceptability of risk for new and renewal business.
  • Partner with Underwriters to provide necessary information for underwriting decisions.
  • Handle endorsement requests within delegated authority and refer outside of authority to Underwriters.
  • Manage assigned renewal book and demonstrate ability to triage renewal applications and formulate next steps.
  • Work as a liaison to resolve issues with billing, collections, risk control, and underwriting guidance.
  • Document files ensuring completeness, compliance, and quality.
  • Execute advanced pricing strategies and document pricing rationale.
  • Complete quote proposals and negotiate with external partners.
  • Leverage as first-line point of contact for account-related matters and identify opportunities for up sell or account rounding.
  • Assist in marketing products and services through external partners and make field visits.
  • Stay current on line of business strategy, state/territory issues, regulations, and trends.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Typically a minimum of three years of related work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting, including insurance products, policy processing procedures, and documentation.
  • Strong time management, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and advise/coach others.
  • Strong customer service experience and ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
