Join the University of Georgia's Student Affairs team as the Director of New Student Orientation. This is a unique opportunity to lead the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive orientation programs for incoming students and their families.
About the Role:The Director of New Student Orientation will oversee the execution of summer and spring orientation sessions for approximately 7,000 students and their families. This role requires strong leadership and supervisory skills, as well as the ability to promote a campus climate that encourages inclusive excellence and participation by all students.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, develop, and implement orientation programs that enhance student transition and engagement.
- Oversee the execution of summer orientation sessions and continuously assess and improve programs.
- Provide direct supervision to staff members, including an assistant director, coordinator, and graduate assistant.
- Serve on the Student Affairs leadership team and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the division.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the university, including academic advising, instruction, auxiliary services, and other relevant areas.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in student affairs, orientation, or related areas.
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, development, and implementation.
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience.
- Experience in a higher education setting, preferably in new student orientation.
- Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, written, and verbal.
- Possess sound judgment and discretion.
- Ability to promote a campus climate that encourages inclusive excellence and participation by all students.
