Job Overview

Spire is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronics Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and integrating custom components for our next-generation satellite platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop custom electronics components for our satellite platform, including PCBAs, sensors, radios, and power systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electronics with software and mechanical systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Participate in peer review and provide feedback on design and layout.
  • Lead the validation and qualification process for testing new and existing systems.
  • Assist and mentor junior team members to achieve their goals.
Requirements
  • Strong background in electronics theory, including component knowledge and analogue and digital circuitry expertise.
  • Experience with PCB design, including schematic capture and layout using Altium Designer.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital layout design practices and experience with SI tools.
  • Experience with digital communication interfaces, including I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, USB, LVDS, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, etc.
Preferred Skills
  • Design for IPC-6012DS Class 3A or ECSS-Q-ST-70-12C/60C compliance.
  • Experience with high-power electronic design and thermal management.
  • Knowledge of RF theory and circuit design, including basic link budgets, antennas, analogue frontends, digitization, materials/stackups, and layout.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing and use of shielded and anechoic chambers.
