We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at University of Michigan Health-West. As a key member of our Radiology department, you will be responsible for performing various technical procedures requiring independent judgment in the use of radioactive materials in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and conditions in patients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and administer radioactive materials in a safe and effective manner.
- Utilize the principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) to minimize radiation dose.
- Provide safe and effective patient care while performing duties of Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Adhere to policies and procedures set down by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, University of Michigan Health-West, and the Nuclear Medicine Department.
- Utilize and effectively use all Radiology equipment and software in the performance of daily responsibilities.
- Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge of all protocols and procedures.
- Participate in the department quality initiatives of the department.
- Maintain certifications, registrations, and education requirements of the hospital and accrediting body.
- Display consistent proficiency in using AIDET when communicating with patients, visitors, physicians, peers, managers, volunteers, internal and external customers.
- Adhere to ALARA concept in place at University of Michigan Health-West, keeping radiation exposure to self, and others as low as reasonably achievable.
- Follow NRC rules and regulations for ordering, receipt, handling, and disposal of radioactive materials (RAM), according to hospital license.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
- Completion of a formal approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program with a minimum of an Associate degree.
- Registered ARRT (N), NMTCB or CAMRT required.
- Current BLS certification - Basic life support.
- Cardiovascular Services: ACLS certified within 6 months or employment.
- Complete required continuing education hours to maintain certification.
- Meets scope of practice and performance standards as identified by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
