Job Summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating CT equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, obtaining medical history from patients, and positioning patients for optimal scanning. You will also be responsible for preparing and administering contrast media, post-processing images, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CT Equipment: Proficiently operate CT equipment to perform basic to advanced diagnostic procedures, including scrub CT guided invasive procedures, angiography, cardiac, cyber-knife, venography, cerebral, PET/CT, and 3D reformatting.
  • Obtain Medical History: Obtain medical history from patients and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Position Patients: Position patients and select proper scanning factors, adjust factors to attain the appropriate images, and provide radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare Contrast Media: Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assist in the proper scanning techniques.
  • Post-Process Images: Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
  • Maintain Records: Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, and document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures. Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluate new products and equipment.
  • Technical Resource: Serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff. Act as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
  • Clinical Problem Solving: Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures and any other imaging department processes and procedures.
  • Patient Positioning: Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Requirements
  • Licensure and Registration: Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Education: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Experience: Typically requires 2 years of experience in a CT Technologist role.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and radiation safety. Proficient in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility). Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members. Ability to work independently. Intermediate computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Environmental Factors: May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
