The Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) division is on the lookout for a Composite Materials & Process Engineer to become a vital part of the BR&T Manufacturing Technology Integration (MTI) team.

This role is essential in delivering technology integration support for the production of diverse composite structures within the Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) Fabrication Manufacturing Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes requirements and oversees the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, and processes utilized in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of products.
  • Creates specifications and documentation to facilitate the management of tools, equipment, materials, and processes.
  • Ensures adherence to contractual and regulatory standards.
  • Encourages standardization across various business operations.
  • Assesses emerging technologies for potential business applications.
  • Develops and validates new tools, equipment, materials, and processes to fulfill specific requirements.
  • Oversees testing and auditing programs to qualify suppliers according to relevant standards.
  • Conducts analyses to evaluate performance or identify failure causes of tools, materials, or processes.
  • Implements corrective and preventive measures.
  • Designs and qualifies computer and production systems to meet user needs.
  • Utilizes project management tools to achieve cost, technical, and scheduling objectives.
  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN, and quality principles into materials and processes, research, design, and operational procedures.
  • Leads teams and provides strategic consultation.

Work Environment:

This position requires full onsite presence. The selected candidate will be expected to work at the designated location.

Export Control Compliance:

This position must adhere to export control compliance requirements. A "U.S. Person" as defined by applicable regulations is necessary for this role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in the development of composite materials.
  • Background in aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing and assembly of composite structures.
  • 4+ years of experience with thermoset composites in aircraft structure manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with aerospace materials and process engineering.
  • Strong project planning and management skills.
  • Experience in conducting requirements-driven materials and process analysis.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple organizations to engage skilled personnel for projects.
  • Experience in budget preparation and management.
  • Ability to collaborate with leadership to align projects with operational needs.
